The Wigan Athletic club will be shooting for a repeat of last season's cup success when it takes on the Manchester City side in the Capital One Cup in round three on Tuesday.

In the month of May, a goal at the end of the game by Ben Watson helped the Latics hoist the FA Cup while Manchester City went home both disappointed and empty-handed.

Moving forward, City has kicked off its Champions League campaign quite successful with a 3-0 victory at Viktoria Plzen last week while Wigan's recent outcome was a 0-0 draw in its first European tie away versus Zulte.

Most recently, Wigan prevailed 2-0 against Ipswich thanks to scores from Ryan Shotton and Nick Powell on Sunday.

The head-to-head record between both football teams in the recent years seemingly indicates that City are the heavy favorites against Wigan, as the former had been victorious in the last seven matches prior to the latter upsetting them at Wembley.
