With the arrival of the iPhone 5S comes the debate about whether or not it shows a great improvement over the iPhone 5.

For those contemplating and upgrade from the original 5 to the newest model, here are a few specs to keep in mind.

Software

The 5S is currently running Apple's latest operating system, the iOS7. While adjusting to the new style may seem daunting for some users, it doesn't really factor in as a difference between the two devices considering the iPhone 5 can easily upgrade to iOS7.

Speed and Connectivity

Powered by apple's new A7 chip, the 5S is reportedly twice as fast as its predecessor, according to the International Business Times. However, considering the iPhone 5 currently runs at a good clip, the extra speed may not prove to be too much of a noticeable upgrade.

Screen and Camera

The two phones have the same 4-inch screen with a 640 x 1136 pixel display. With an oleophobic coating, the 5S' screen better resists smudges and scratches. Although each device only has an 8MP front-facing camera, the 5S is equipped with dual-flash and a better aperture (f/2.2 vs. f2.4).

Battery Life

Whereas the 5 can only get 8 hours of talk time and 9.4 days of standby, the 5S has improved battery life and will provide 10 hours of talk time and 10.4 days of standby, according to PhoneArena.

Unless you desperatly want a gold iPhone, those with a working 5 wouldn't probably be better off waiting untill Apple relases a more advanced product.
