Supermoon: Celebs Want to Watch Bigger, Brighter Moon
Some celebrities are excited about the "Supermoon" today at 11:34 p.m. (EST) when the moon will look "gloriously full."
The moon will be as much as 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than other full moons of 2012, according to NASA.
"Happy Cinco de Mayo! I Hope you all have a "full" day. Anyone excited about the Super Moon?" Tweeted singer Paula Abdul Saturday.
"What day is this??? Saturday?? Really makes no difference in book and garden world...EXCEPT tonight is the SUPER MOON..giant and BRIGHT!!" actress Kristie Alley wrote on her Twitter.
"Enjoy our oldest grandmother, the Moon, 5 May. She'll be the "biggest" full moon of 2012. "Super Moon." Gorgeous!" Missing star Ashley Judd tweeted.
According to NASA the best time to look at the moon today is when it is near the horizon, because it looks bigger when its seen through trees or behind buildings.
The Supermoon phenomenon has some people wondering if it will have any effect on Earth.
People believed that weird things happen under the light of a full moon such as more hospital admissions, more crime and people behaving strangely.
But NASA said that the majority of modern age studies show no correlation between the face of the moon and the incidence of crime, sickness or human behavior.
