Rapidly moving storms continued on through parts of the Northeast, hitting parts of states such as Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts with tumultuous rain along with high winds, which have resulted in power losses.
Weather meteorologist Nick Witgen elaborated on the dangerous winds, which he says originated from New York City and the Catskills and are headed towards Maine.
"There were over 140 reports of damaging winds in the Northeast Monday, most of them in a swath from New York City and the Catskills northeast into Maine. The last time there were more severe weather reports in a single day nationwide was Sept. 11, and that was also mostly a Northeast event."
Utility crews have been attempting to fix the various power outages that have affected thousands of people in eastern New York after a "line of storms" was ignited via cold front on Monday.
Winds knocked down heavy tree trunks causing two injuries in Bergen, N.J.
The National Weather Service issued a flood warning near small streams and in poor quality drainage areas in Pennsylvania. The respective weather led to flight delays that reportedly averaged 45 minutes at Philadelphia International Airport and caused schools to cancel extra-curricular activities.
Interesting to note, National Grid stated that over 400 customers were without any power.
