Analysts started rolling out predictions -- from its release date to specs -- about the next in the iPhone series.

Peter Misek, who is an analyst at Jefferies LLC, told the Financial Post that the phone would release in June of 2014. According to some reports, another iteration of the iPhone 5S will release later this year, warming up to the release of the iPhone 6 in 2014. While it was previously stated that the launch would be scheduled for the fall, sources hinted that Apple might want to ambush the competitors by pulling the release date up to late spring/early summer of 2014.

One major feature that is being highlighted in the press is the possibility of a bigger screen for the iPhone 6. News of Apple testing larger screens for its products including the iPhone and iPad has been doing the rounds on the internet.

Misek also weighed in on the speculation suggesting that the iPhone 6 would aim for a 4.8-inch screen.

"The iPhone 6 will likely have a new design and a 4.8" display," Misek wrote in a research note to investors.

That screen size would bring the iPhone closer to the 5-inch display screen of the Samsung Galaxy S4. Misek also wrote about the possibility of a boost in sales with people looking to upgrade in the iPhone 6 cycle by a good 5 to 10 million.

"We think the 85M iPhones eligible for an upgrade when the iPhone 6 launches (we think Apple is targeting Sep 2014) could be boosted by another 5-10M from people who skipped the 5S/5C cycle," he wrote.
