After being defeated by Detroit in Game 1, Oakland rallied for victories in their next two meetings but ultimately lost again in Game 4. Currently the A's are ranked 4 th for runs and 14 th for batting average, according to ESPN.
Taking the mound tonight for the Tigers is Justin Verlander, who has 13 wins and nearly as many losses to his name during the 2013 season. Sonny Gray will be pitching for the A's and has won five games and lost three this year.
