David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson would be willing to return for another The X-Files film if it were produced, they said in the panel discussion for the 20th anniversary of the franchise on Oct. 12, International Business Times Australia reported.

A third film part of the hit series would have Duchovny and Anderson reprise their roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, respectively. The two weren't a romantic couple on The X-Files TV series, but there were moments that would make the audience believe there's something going on between them.

The stars are excited to be on screen once again -- that is if another feature film was to get the green light by a studio.

"All the principals are on board. Gillian and I want to do it, so it's really up to Twentieth Century Fox at this point," Duchovny, 53, said.

Anderson, 45, believed fans will play a significant role in getting a third film into production. She said that as long as there is support, they would able to convince FOX officials to produce another movie.

"If it takes fan encouragement to get Fox interested in that then I guess that's what it would be," Anderson noted.

Some audience members at the panel, held in New York City, asked about the real score between agents Mulder and Scully in the hit series. The two revealed "feeling married" in the 2008 film The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

"Well they (Mulder and Scully) were married the last movie," Duchovny began, before Anderson cut him off and asked, "Were we actually married?"

"I believe so. That was my impression," finished Duchovny.

The X-Files TV series aired from 1993-2002. The show revolved aound two FBI agents investigating the strange and unexplained while hidden forces work to sabotage their efforts.
