On Oct. 22, Apple will hold an event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, where the company is rumored to unveil new versions of the iPad.

The company confirmed in an invitation (above) sent to members of the media on Tuesday morning.

The invitation reads "We still have a lot to cover."

The company apparently has even more to announce after its new iPhone 5s and 5c announcements in September. It is widely expected to use the event to detail its new iPads.

According to many leaked photos, the fifth generation iPad will have a very similar design to the iPad Mini, but with a thinner build, relocated speakers and mic, and a thinner screen bezel.

Apple is also rumored to release the iPad Mini, which it unveiled at an event close to a year ago, with a higher resolution Retina Display, though there have been conflicting reports about that.

Another set of leaked pictures allegedly show the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 shells in gold, a color that has been rumored before. The gold iPhone 5s has been a hit across the globe, and it makes sense for Apple to try and capitalise on that demand with the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5.

Renowned leaker Sonny Dickson also tweeted rumored specs about the new iPads. Dickson tweeted that the iPad mini 2 will have a fingerprint scanner, an A7 chip with 64-bit architecture, and a M7 motion coprocessor.

He added that his sources told him that the iPad mini 2 will be packing 1GB of RAM (with the iPad 5 having 2GB) and the same three colours available as the iPhone 5S - silver, champagne and space grey.
