Android 4.4 KitKat Release Date Revealed? Candy Bar Tweets Fuel Rumors of Oct. 28 Launch For New Operating System [PHOTOS, NEWS]
Thanks to tweets from Nestle's Kit Kat, rumors of Google's newest Android Technology being released at the end of this month have been heavily fueled.
The candy company first tweeted a picture Tuesday of an Android logo made entirely of Kit-Kat chocolate bar pieces with the caption "Everybody dance now."
They tweeted a new picture today featuring Kit Kat candy bars spelling out the words "This Is It," with the caption "Sometimes you have to look for the signs..."
According to CNET, this has spurred speculation that these photos are actually signs dictating the operating system's release date will be Oct. 28, in conjunction with the Nexus 5.
The speculation on the first photo relates more to the caption. It is believed that the caption references the song Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now), by the group C+C Music Factory, who originally called themselves The 28th Street Crew.
The second photo's speculation is believed to reference the Michael Jackson movie, This Is It, which was released on October 28, 2009, four months after the singer's death.
Google has not responded to much of the speculation surrounding KitKat, but has said in the past that it will "make an amazing Android experience available for everybody."
Changes made to KitKat over the Jelly Bean platforms before it are expected to include minor adjustments like tweaks to the app launcher, notification bar, and dialer.
If the speculation proves true, then Google will be following in the tradition they set last year by releasing Nexus 4 in later October as well.
