Dolly Parton Car Accident: Country Singer Resting After Vehicle Crashes Into Her In Nashville
Country singer Dolly Parton is home resting after sustaining minor injuries from a car accident in Nashville, Tenn. Monday morning.
After getting the all clear from doctors at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, the singer tweeted, "I was in a fender bender this morning here in Nashville, but I am all good...Just a little tired and sore. Resting at home now!"
According to contactmusic.com, Parton, 67, was a passenger in a Nissan Xterra being driven by her friend, 68-year-old Judy Ogle. They were traveling eastbound on Kirkwood Avenue in Nashville when a Mitsubishi Diamante, driven by 64-year-old Diane Lish, crashed into their vehicle around 11:40 a.m.
Both Parton and Ogle were rushed to Vanderbilt while Lish was taken to Centennial Medical Center, where all were treated for minor injuries and discharged later in the day.
Police concluded that Lish was at fault for the accident after failing to yield for oncoming traffic by pulling out of an intersection at Vaulx Lane and Kirkwood Avenue and not stopping in time for Parton and Ogle to pass.
Parton came onto the country music scene in the 1960s. She rose to fame in the 1980s for her hit song 9 to 5, for the film of the same name that she starred in with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, and her duet with Kenny Rogers for Islands in the Stream. She has composed over 3,000 songs and is one of the most successful female country artists of all time with an estimated 100 million in record sales.
She has also starred in several films, including Steel Magnolias and Joyful Noise, is godmother to Miley Cyrus, and has her own theme park, Dollywood, in Tennessee.
No charges have been filed in the accident.
