As DC Comics tries to catch up with their Marvel counterparts with the sheer volume of superhero movies they release in theaters, fans continue to clamor for more information on one superhero in particular: Wonder Woman.

Speculation began with the announcement of a Justice League movie over which characters would be making an appearance in the highly-anticipated film, and one character that has consistently been asked about is Wonder Woman. If DC Comics and Warner Brothers were to give her either her own movie, or a role in one of the others they plan to release, she would be the first major female superhero to be seen on the big screen in recent years.

According to Slash Film, there has been speculation that Wonder Woman would be making an appearance in Zack Snyder's 2015 film Batman vs. Superman, already starring Henry Cavill reprising his role from Man of Steel. The film's cast includes Ben Affleck as the newest actor to fill the shows of Bruce Wayne.

At the Variety Entertainment and Tech Summit, Greg Silverman, Warner Bros. president of creative development and worldwide production, did not confirm or deny whether or not the female hero would be appearing in the film.

"We have been doing a lot of thinking for years about how best to use all those characters and we love them," he said. "Wonder Woman is an amazing character. I think it's a great opportunity both for box office success, but also have an amazingly powerful female superhero."

"We are taking it all very seriously and are trying to do a plan that's respectful to those characters and maximizes the stories as best they can. So everything that has been speculated are things that we've thought about," he added.

Several actresses have been rumored to potentially portray the character in a film, including Yuliva Snigir of A Good Day To Die Hard.
