Danvers Homicide: Massachusetts Teacher Slain by 14-Year-Old Student, Body Found in Woods [VIDEO, PHOTO]
The body of a high school math teacher was found early Wednesday behind the building where she taught and now a 14-year-old student has been accused of her murder.
Colleen Ritzer, 24, of Andover Mass., was found in the woods near Danvers High School one day after an investigation began regarding her disappearance. She was reported missing when she did not return home from work and did not answer her cellphone.
Blood was also found in a second-floor bathroom of the high school.
A male student, who was also reported missing Tuesday after not coming home from school, was spotted walking along a road in neighboring Topsfield and brought in by cops early Wednesday. He will be arraigned in juvenile court, according to ABC News. It is unclear why he is considered a suspect in the case.
"She was a very, very respected, loved teacher," Essex District Attorney Jonathon Blodgett said.
No motive has been revealed for the crime and it has not been confirmed at time of publication whether the teenager accused was one of Ritzer's students.
Ritzer described herself on her Twitter account as a "math teacher often too excited abou the topics I'm teaching," and often tweeted homework assignments for her students.
Her last tweet, dated Oct. 21, provided extra help to her geometry students.
"Geometry-here is the link to the review packet answer key as well as extra problems if interested: msritzermath.webs.com/honors-geometry," she wrote.
Though Blodgett assured parents in the area that there is no public safety danger and no one else is believed to be involved, Danver public schools remained closed Wednesday.
Ritzer is actually the second math teacher reportedly slain by a student this week. Michael Landsberry, 45, a teacher at Sparks Middle School outside Reno, Nev. Was allegedly shot by a 12-year-old student who also injured two others before killing himself on Monday.
