Bob Barker ‘The Price is Right’ Return: Legend Comes Back to Show after Six-Year Absence [VIDEO]
Despite leaving the long-running game show The Price is Right in 2007 to retire, Bob Barker is now returning to the show.
The legendary host, now 90, is confirmed to be a guest for one episode during a week-long celebration of his birthday, CBS confirmed.
During the week of episodes set to air from Dec. 9-Dec. 13 the show will pay tribute to pet adoptions, a cause Barker has been a long-time advocate for.
Barker ended every episode of the show during his hosting years with a reminder to viewers at home to have their pets spayed or neutered. He also paid nearly $1 million earlier in October to help ship three elephants from the Toronto Zoo to a sanctuary in California.
His guest appearance, which USA Today reports will include him presenting a special showcase, is set to air on his birthday: Thursday, Dec. 12.
It is the first time Barker will make an appearance on the shoe since his retirement. He was not invited back for the show's 40th anniversary events last year. Barker reportedly said at the time that producers had "chosen to ignore him" as they planned the events.
Barker retired in 2007 after 35 years hosting the program and handed his microphone over to comedian Drew Carey, who still helms the show. It celebrated another milestone in September with an episode devoted entirely to the popular game of Plinko, which had its 30th anniversary this year.
The Price is Right airs weekdays at 11 a.m. EST on CBS.
