Mark David Chapman, who is accused of killing John Lennon in 1980, has been moved to a new prison. According to officials, Chapman was moved from protective custody in Attica to the protective custody in Wende Correctional Facility in Alden on Tuesday.

The reason for the move has not been disclosed.

Chapman shot Lennon outside of his Manhattan home 31 years ago and afterwards pled guilty to the murder. He was sentenced to prison from 20 years to life.

Chapman had previously talked about the crime in an interview with Larry King. "It was me, Larry, and I accept full responsibility for what I did," he said. "I've seen places where I'm blaming the devil, and I hope that that isn't kept going after this interview. I'm not blaming the devil, I'm blaming myself. But in the major sense, it wasn't me, because I'm better now. I'm normal ... but I'm not the same person in the major sense, because back then I was lost and I didn't know who I was."

Chapman released a book in 2000 called "Let Me Take You Down". He has been up for parole 6 times but had been denied on all counts. He was last denied in 2010 and is scheduled for another hearing in August.
