'Orange Is The New Black' Season 2 Spoilers: Corruption & Politics Set To 'Humanize' Female Inmates? [VIDEO]
Netflix's hit show, Orange Is The New Black, continues to garner interest in anticipation for its upcoming sophomore season.
Amid the fans' continuous melee, actresses Taylor Schilling (Piper Chapman) and Danielle Brooks (Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson) recently took the opportunity to dish to the Associated Press on the prison landscape and the effect it has on the characters.
Schilling believes that prison life alters both the female inmates' relationships and emotions, amongst other things.
"One of the most interesting things for me is how women deal [in prison] with relationships. How there's more of a dealing in emotions, words, and talking and alliances, and creating family groups within prison and that social structure is really important, and that became very clear to me as we went on," she explained.
Brooks also touched on the changes that a life behind bars brings to the OITNB characters, but also stressed the existence of the politics of it all.
"The politics of prison. There's a lot going on there that people aren't aware of: the corruption that goes on there, and also remembering that these are real women, you know, to humanize this and to remember that these are people's mothers and sisters and friends. So I think that's something that came to my pysh is the politics of it all," she said.
Netflix's Orange Is The New Black is set to make its return for season 2 at some point in 2014. The program is currently in production in New York. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest info on the popular series. The interview session mentioned can be watched below.
