With AMC's The Walking Dead just about halfway through its fourth season, many fans are surely wondering what will be transpiring with their favorite characters in the near future.

Creator Robert Kirkman recently spoke to Wet Paint about the TV series' newest showrunner, Scott Gimple, who's known to be big on character development.

"Scott Gimple, our new showrunner, he's a character guy. He loves tearing these characters apart and seeing what makes them tick and getting to the heart of them," he said.

In terms of the new feel that Gimple has brought to the fourth installment, which includes the Governor's (David Morrissey) standalone episodes, Kirkman promised fans that they'll get to know even more about their favorite prison group members.

"I can tell you by the end of season 4, you're going to know more about these characters than you've ever known. The first three seasons were about world-building, but by the end of this season, you're going to know more about all the characters than you ever did. There's more personal stuff, I would say it's our biggest season so far," he said.
