Lindsay Lohan Lawsuit: Actress Says Rockstar Games Used Her Likeness In ‘Grand Theft Auto V' Without Permission [VIDEO]
Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan is once again heading to court, although this time she will be the plaintiff.
The 27-year-old is planning on suing Rockstar Games for using her likeness in their wildly successful video game Grand Theft Auto V, according to The Huffington Post.
Lohan claims that the game uses her supposed likeness for a character attempting to escape paparazzi, who is later convinced to film a sex tape at a hotel which resembles the chateau Marmont. Lohan has constantly tried dodging paparazzi, especially whenever she has been caught drinking or doing drugs.
The actress has never reportedly filmed a sex tape, though she did star alongside porn star James Deen in the film The Canyons. Lohan also takes issue with the game's cover art, which features a blonde woman dressed in a red bikini taking selfies.
Though no one from Rockstar Games has commented on the issue, Forbes's Eric Kain wrote that while it could be perceived that the character is modeled after Lohan, it is likely meant to be just a generic satirization of various celebrities.
As for the woman on the game's cover, she is meant to resemble model Shelby Welinder, who was hired by Rockstar in 2012 for the advertisement.
Lohan will have a tough case against her if she goes to court with the makers of the game, which reached $1 billion in sales only three days after its September 2013 release. It would make her third lawsuit against a company for using her likeness.
She successfully sued E-Trade back in 2010 for a Superbowl Commercial featuring a "milkaholic" baby named Lindsay. The terms of the settlement in the $100M lawsuit were confidential, but Lohan didn't walk away empty-handed.
She also tried suing Pitbull earlier this year for using her name in the song Give Me Everything, where he sang "I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan." She called the lyric "disparaging and defamatory," but the case was thrown out by a judge.
