Jason Biggs Slams Coffee Shop For Paul Walker-Inspired Tip Jars: 'Poor Taste,' He Says, Company Responds [EXCLUSIVE]
The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf found itself in a bad situation after one location apparently asked customers to use cash to vote between two films starring Paul Walker, who recently lost his life in a car accident. However, the company has issued an apology.
Actor Jason Biggs, who starred with Walker in 2006's Eight Below, brought it to the attention of the public via Twitter.
"Umm, am I crazy, or does this seem exploitive and in poor taste? @CoffeeBeanLA," the actor tweeted along with a photo on Tuesday.
The picture showed two adjacent containers that held customers' money at a Los Angeles location. One container had the movie title Fast And Furious written on it, while the other said Varsity Blues. It's unclear what the money was intended to be used for.

"That's seriously below the belt," tweeted another.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf also disapproved of the incident, which occurred in one of the company's many locations.
"This is completely inconsistent with our brand values and the jars have since been removed," a rep for the company told EnStars in an email on Wednesday. "The jars were never sanctioned by the company and the brand immediately worked to remove them yesterday morning as soon as Jason's tweet came to light."
The company, who thanked Biggs for acknowledging the issue, also added: "Our thoughts and condolences remain with the many friends and family of Paul Walker during this difficult time."
On Nov. 30, Walker was a passenger in a red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, which burst into flames after crashing into a pole in Santa Clarita, Calif. Both the actor and the driver, Roger Rodas, were killed. Walker was 40 and Rodas was 38.
