Doctor Who fans are out of luck if they are looking for a straightforward image to explain the plot of the upcoming Christmas Special, "The Time of the Doctor."

Early stills from Matt Smith's last outing as the Eleventh Doctor showed that the Time Lord will be going up against some of his most famed enemies - the daleks, the cybermen, and the weeping angels. As more photos find their way out of the BBC cone of silence, however, the Doctor seems to be in for a delightfully odd adventure.

When the episode starts, the Doctor will uproot Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) from her holiday dinner in order to chase down a message that is being broadcast to the stars from a small, unassuming planet. However, the Doctor and his TARDIS aren't then only space travelers that have picked up the transmission and Eleven will have to face his fate at Trenzalore.

While the Gallifreyan will spend a lot of time carting around a severed cyberman head, a new picture from Metro shows that there will be more than your garden variety "Age of Steel" cybermen this Christmas. A new, wood-based cybermen may give the sonic screwdriver a fit.

Meanwhile, a new still from the BBC One depicts the Doctor looking like a magician while facing off with a squad of Daleks. Wearing a cape and brandishing what can only be described as a wand, the Time Lord seems unperturbed by the killing machines stationed in front of him.
