The Hills stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt opened up about making amends after having fallouts with their best friends Lauren Conrad and Brody Jenner, respectively, while getting caught up in the world of reality television.

MTV viewers saw Conrad and Montag's relationship spiral downward on the reality series a few years ago, and the once best friends became somewhat enemies to such an extend that Conrad refused to attend Montag's wedding. Montag recently spoke about where their relationship stands currently.

"I've talked to [Lauren] a few times on the phone and we've caught up," Montag told People on Friday, Dec. 6. "She's been really sweet. The last time we talked was like a year ago I lost her number so I haven't been able to call her [recently]."

She also said that she apologized to Conrad for how their friendship ended and took the blame.

"I told her I got really caught up and I was sorry about how things happened. I told her I miss her and she told me she'd always be there for me. We've been through a lot and we have a relationship that only the two of us would understand. She was my best friend for a long time."

As for Pratt, he also admitted his wrong and the part he played in ending a friendship with Jenner. He told the magazine he got a little too carried away trying to portray a certain character; one that he got paid millions to play.

"I turned on [Brody] for just being the nice guy that he is. I wish I'd handled that differently," he admitted. "I abandoned him and our friendship and we were such best friends. I got caught up in my character."

Despite his faults, Pratt said Jenner has forgiven him. Now, they are "great" friends again.

"He's always been there for me," Pratt added.

Pratt also revealed the true issue he and Conrad had with one another. Apparently while the show was taping, Pratt took it upon himself to try to make the show as big as possible. He said Conrad did not like that and felt he was not being genuine when it came to his relationship with Montag.

"Clearly she was wrong about that. She thought that someone so consumed with making hit TV wasn't in the relationship for the right reasons," he said. "I wanted everyone to have more success and I saw the potential it did have if it just got a little bit more dramatic."

Pratt's sister Stephanie, who also had a fallout with him when the series was running, said he has made a change since then.

"He's become humble. The experience of the last two years - of losing his fame and spending all his money - has made him grow up," Stephanie explained. "I have my big brother again."

Montag said she is still working to repair relationships with her family. Since the show ended, Pratt has graduated from University of Southern California. He and Montag currently live in Santa Barbara. They'll be featured on an E! special titled After Shock: Heidi and Spencer to talk about their life after reality TV.
