'X-Men Days of Future Past' Preceded By Stand-Alone 'No More Humans' Graphic Novel
X-Men fans that only join the ranks of the mutants when they take the big screen will now have an easy segue into the world of graphic novels with Marvel's No More Humans.
Set to debut on May 7, less than a month before the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past, the story is simultaneous accessible to fans of the movie franchise and loyal comic book devotes who have been waiting for a follow up to this year's time-traveling Battle of the Atom series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Written by Mike Carey and illustrated by Salvador Larroca, the new tale will see the entire human race disappear from the face of the planet while the mutants are left to figure out what to do next. With a cast comprised of heroes and villains that can span the X-Men timeline, the 128-page book will allow the characters to wrestle with some major moral dilemmas.
"There are times in this story when it seems as though there isn't any right thing to do - and when the different ideals and personalities of the X-Men threaten to split them apart," Carey explained to the USA Today.
"We really throw them some monstrous, agonizing curveballs. And we see them, finally, finding the core of themselves and responding as the heroes they are."
Part of Marvel's Original Graphic Novel operation, No More Humans will follow 2013's Avengers: Endless Wartime and 2014's Spider-Man: Family Business as the third cinematic/comic book segue that provides a stand alone and only requires basic series background knowledge.
