Supernatural recently killed off Kevin Tran but the CW series will be making up for it with a slew of returning fan favorites and new characters in the second half of the season.

Numerous names have been floated around as possible guest stars and one-off appearances, but it mostly has been speculation. However, executive producer Jeremy Carver recently dished on the paranormal drama's upcoming plans and gave updates on Tahmoh Penikett, Garth (DJ Qualls), the Ghostfacers, and a few unnamed mystery actors.

Absolutely, 100 percent appearing this season are Garth and the Ghostfacers. Although DJ Qualls recently tweeted about his upcoming stint with the Winchesters and the Ghostfacers (Travis Wester and A.J. Buckley) return was revealed by Spoiler TV, Carver has some extra details.

"And we're going to get an answer to where the heck Garth (DJ Qualls) has been this whole time and viewers will remember he sort of went AWOL when put in charge of guarding Kevin back in season 8 and we'll answer this question, and I think it will be surprising. And there will be hugs," Carver explained to Entertainment Weekly. "I think we can rest assured we'll be seeing the return of The Ghostfacers. They will be making a return in what actually is a really fun and pretty emotional episode."

Now that Gadreel is out of the bag, one of viewers' most pressing questions is whether or not Tahmoh Penikett will return as the angel's original meat suit when, or if, Gadreel is expelled from Sam (Jared Padalecki).

"There are lots of different ways, shapes and forms people can appear on the show. Past, present...," said executive producer Jeremy Carver, according to TV Line. "People shouldn't rush to any one conclusion. Just know there are a lot of different ways he could appear."

While there has been a lot of talk regarding the possible return of a formerly deceased angel (many fans would be happy to see Gabriel (Richard Speight Jr.) back on the screen), Carver was unable to confirm or deny the Trickster's possible appearance.

"I can tell you we're going to see some people we absolutely did not expect to see," Carver told Entertainment Weekly. "And it's all a result of the events that have happened here in the last season and a half. I can't go much more into detail than that."

Supernatural airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on the CW.
