The Eleventh Doctor will be a bit distracted when Clara calls him for help in "The Time of the Doctor."

Characteristically scattered and energetic, Eleven (Matt Smith) is carting a cyberman head around his TARDIS and when he gets a ring from his holiday-haggard companion in a new sneak peek for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special.

The winter holidays are generally a time of familial stress - what with cooking the perfect meal and creating fictional boyfriends - and Clara (Jenna Louis Coleman) is in the thick of it. Not for long, however, since the Doctor will soon pull her away from her family gathering to meet his ultimate fate at Trenzalore (but not before they fix the turkey and Eleven posses has her new beau).

When the Time Lord is faced with the Cybermen, Daleks, Weeping Angels, and the Silence this Christmas, the Doctor will regenerate following someone's attempt to recreate the Time War. While little is known about the episode's villain, Tasha Lem (Orla Brady), aside from the fact that she is part Dalek, Coleman was able to dish on the Doctor's regeneration while on BBC Breakfast.

As Eleven morph's into Peter Capaldi's Twelve (or Fourteen, if you want to be technical), executive producer Steven Moffat will be looking to neatly tie up Smith's storyline.

"There's lots of things that tie up very cleverly that, you know, maybe had been mentioned years ago and then they come back into play now so its kind of like this wonderful arc, in a way," Coleman said of Smith's final episode.

Although some fans will undoubtedly be crying by time Eleven disappears, Whovians can get a glimpse at the episode's cheery beginning by clicking the video below. Another sneak peek can be seen by clicking here.

The Doctor Who Christmas Special will air on BBC America at 9 p.m. ET on Dec. 25.
