'Man of Steel 2' News: Gal Gadot Says She Represents 'The Wonder Woman of the New World' [VIDEO]
Actress Gal Gadot recently had her first interview since being cast as Wonder Woman in Man of Steel 2, revealing how she'll defy expectations for the role.
Gadot recently spoke with Good Evening with Gai Pines, an Israeli entertainment show, explaining her reaction to getting the role and how she's training to get in prime physical shape. When asked about fans who have criticized her as being too small to play the traditionally muscular Wonder Woman, she fully defended herself.
"I represent the Wonder Woman of the new world," she explained. "Breasts - anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels and everything is fine. By the way, Wonder Woman is Amazonian, and historically accurate Amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I'd really go 'by the book' . . . it'd be problematic."
Despite her comments, Gadot confirmed that she is starting her intensive physical regimen to prepare for the role.
"It's the physical preparations that I'm starting now. A very serious training regimen - Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jujutsu, Brazilian . . . 1,000 and 1 things . . . I'll gain body mass," Gadot said.
The actress also recounted the day she first got news that she had been officially cast as Wonder Woman, saying that she could not believe it was real.
Gadot joins an all-star cast of actors and actresses who are preparing to star in Man of Steel 2, a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman. Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are all returning to reprise their roles as Superman, Lois Lane, Perry White and Martha Kent, respectively. Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman.
Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on July 17, 2015.
