A leaked image of Apple's latest handset device - the iPhone 5 - has been released this afternoon on 9to5mac. The handset appears to come in its signature black and white models with a bigger screen than its predecessor, along with some changes to the design. But the handsets appear to have a film of glass cover most of its backside. The earphone dock and speaker appears to be at the bottom with a smaller dock connector. As rumors suggested, Apple looks to have ditched its traditional 30-pin dock for a much smaller micro dock connector.

It is hoped that the iPhone 5 will be at least be revealed at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Fransisco on Monday, June 11. The WWDC will be led Apple CEO Tim Cook.

Apple registered the iPhone5.com domain name two weeks ago, suggesting that the latest handset will indeed be called the "iPhone 5." Rumors suggest that the late Steve Jobs had designed the new handset.

The current iPhone 4S screen is 3.5 inches. There are reports that the new 4 inch screens are already in production in Korea and Japan by LG Display Co Ltd, Sharp Corp and Japan Display Inc. The three companies are likely to get production orders within a month, which means that the mobile device will probably be launched in September as predicted.
