'Man of Steel 2' News: Jason Momoa Talks 'Batman vs. Superman' Rumors [VIDEO]
Actor Jason Momoa recently opened up about rumors that he would be joining the highly anticipated Man of Steel 2.
Speaking with IGN, Momoa addressed the rumors that he was going to be playing a potential villain role in Man of Steel 2, a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman.
"It's just rumors," Momoa told IGN. "I want to say something amazing, but I can't comment on rumors. It's flattering . . . I'm not involved in it."
Momoa suggested that the rumors may have spread due to miscommunication.
"Maybe that's how it came out," he explained. "Maybe someone said, 'You should be in this!' and I said, 'Yeah that would be great!' And it just went too far."
The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news that Momoa was being considered for Man of Steel 2, suggesting such roles for him to play as Martian Manhunter and Doomsday.
Thus far in production, there have only been six stars attached to Man of Steel 2. Henry Cavill is reprising his role as Superman while Ben Affleck makes his big debut as Batman.
Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious) will play Wonder Woman in a supporting role. Other actors reprising their roles from Man of Steel include Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.
Production is slated to begin on Man of Steel 2 in February; Adams has confirmed that she's read the script and is set to begin shooting the film "very soon."
Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release on July 17, 2015.
