Johnny Depp, Amber Heard Engaged? Christmas Eve Proposal Happened After Actress Reportedly Turned Him Down Before
The news of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's engagement is apparently true, according to an insider that spilled some details.
"It happened on Christmas Eve," a source close to the family told Celebuzz. "Amber really took her time to make up her mind."
It seems the actress, who previously had a four-year relationship with photographer Tasya van Ree, wanted to make sure she made the right choice before accepting the ring from Depp.
"She turned him down before," the source said, "before she said yes. So she waited and was thinking about it for a long time."
The 27-year-old actress was first spotted with a diamond rock on her ring finger as she was leaving Ago restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday. View the ring here.
Other photos show Heard covering her left hand in what appears to be an attempt to hide the ring. However, both of their reps have yet to respond to the engagement reports.
The couple, who has been linked since 2012, is very secretive about their relationship. Still, they have been spotted together several times on a date night and recently even celebrated the New Year together.
While the couple rarely walks a red carpet together, they also made their first appearance at the The Art of Elysium HEAVEN Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday.
But, the pair still attempted to avoid the spotlight that evening as much as they could. Depp arrived through the back entrance while Heard said she had a cold and didn't do interviews, according to People.
