The Mentalist fans may now have a departure date for the characters of Wayne Rigsby and Grace Van Pelt.

As the CBS drama moves on from nearly six seasons with the CBI, the transition to an FBI focus in the post-Red John world has resulted in the introduction of several new characters. Series creator Bruno Heller previously confirmed that the married couple would be exiting the show by midseason, and, now that Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) and Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) are on the margins of the plotline, their departure seems fitting.

Following the completion of filming for "Grey Water" (episode 14) on Jan. 9, Yeoman tweeted that he getting ready to shoot his final episode of The Mentalist.

"Morning LA! Beautiful day for a morning bike ride. A nice way to start the first day of my last ever Mentalist ep!" the actor wrote on Jan. 10 alongside a photo of his bike below the Hollywood sign.

Although Righetti has not made any similar statements, her departure will most likely coincide with Rigsby's. Details on the reasons for the character's departure (death, change of job, etc.) are unclear. After the events of "The Golden Hammer," however, the partners have suddenly found themselves in a dangerous situation - an unknown entity is monitoring former CBI members, and they aren't afraid to kill in order to get whatever it is they are after.

The Mentalist airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS and will return with "Black Helicopters" on March 9. Click the video below to learn more about Rigsby and Van Pelt's recent case.
