Madonna has issued an apology after she caused an uproar on social media for calling her son, Rocco, the N-Word, Saturday.

She took to her Instagram and wrote, "I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N word on Instagram. It was not meant as a racial slur..I am not a racist. There's no way to defend the use of the word. It was all about intention.. It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is White. I appreciate that it's a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me."

In her caption she included that she aims to always spread love, not hate.

The Material Girl singer became the center of social media backlash after she shared a picture on Instagram of Rocco in a boxing class Friday with her more than 1 million followers.

Many of them did not like the caption that read, "No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disn---a"

After getting negative responses in the comment section, Madonna switched the caption to, "Ok let me start this again. #get off my d--k haters!"

Her new caption didn't help because some fans thought she posted it in response to the flack that she got for using the n-word in the first caption.

One follower wrote, "How do you use the word n---a then get mad when ou're called out for it. Really!!! Haters!!!!! Your old a-- should know better. Lost a fan. I was just listening to her Hard Candy album Thursday :("
