Justin Timberlake Concert: 'Mirrors' Singer Makes Fan's Dream Come True [PHOTOS & Details]
A Justin Timberlake fan who is struggling with a rare neuromuscular disorder lived through her biggest dream come true when the singer performed in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada last week.
After Amanda Renneberg, 27, and her boyfriend, Derek Jones, 28, created Facebook and Twitter campaigns last year to get Timberlake to meet with Renneberg at his Edmonton shows and she received a call days later from the Mirrors singer himself.
"He phoned me! It was so surreal to have my JT ringtone ring, and it was him! I knew the second he asked for Amanda that it was his voice. I couldn't believe it," she said.
Timberlake reportedly made Renneberg his guest of honor at his Edmonton concert on Jan. 14, which allowed her and her boyfriend to hang out backstage with the singer after the show, as well as meet his wife, actress Jessica Biel.
Renneberg spoke about what meeting Timberlake would mean to her after the online campaigns began, telling The Edmonton Journal that he was an inspiration for her.
"I just love him a lot, he's my inspiration," she said back in December. "I have a lot of obstacles, and good and bad days, and his music just seems to get me through."
Renneberg suffers from Friedrich's ataxia, a debilitating and life-shortening condition. The degenerative disorder of the nervous system and heart is a rare disorder, with many of those who suffer dying as adults from heart disease.
Renneberg has seen her condition worsen since her diagnosis at age 18, including a loss of coordination that has forced her into a wheelchair for the past year. It has also prevented her from working or driving due to chronic exhaustion.
She had wanted to meet Timberlake for years because of the effect his music had on her, but was afraid the Edmonton shows would be her last chance due to her condition.
"Everybody's said don't get your hopes up too high because he is extremely busy and I'm just a small-town girl, so maybe it won't happen," she said. "But at least I'm getting the awareness out about my condition and maybe I can help out someone else."
Now that she has met Timberlake, Renneberg hopes that his kind gesture will be recognized by mainstream media, bringing further recognition to her medical condition. She has even sent tweets to both the Ellen Degeneres and Jimmy Fallon shows.
Her photos of the experience also confirm Jessica Biel's attendance at the concert.
The couple has been fighting rumors that their marriage was on the rocks due to Biel skipping Timberlake's appearance on Saturday Night Live, as well as the American Music and People's Choice Awards.
