Kate Middleton 'My Fair Lady:' Duchess Of Cambridge Plays Cockney Flower Girl Becoming More Ladylike [Performance VIDEO]
A video of Kate Middleton as Eliza Doolittle in the classic musical My Fair Lady was released on Monday.
The Daily Mail released the clip that shows an 11-year-old Middleton as the Cockney flower girl. The clip shows different moments from the play in 1993, including when DoLittle practices her infamous speech "The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain" although she pronounces it in a Cockney accent.
My Fair Lady is based on the play Pygmalion. It involves a young woman who becomes the project of a professor to find out if she can become more ladylike.

The musical became a film in 1964 starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison. It won eight Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Harrison, Best Director and Best Cinematography.
Its classic songs include Wouldn't it be Loverly, Just You Wait and I Could Have Danced All Night.
According to the Daily Mail, the Duchess of Cambridge needed to get proper teaching in order to help with her Cockney accent.

Middleton's family was middle-class and her accent is known to be "posher" than her husband's.
"Kate has focused on her voice," British Library curator and linguist Jonnie Robinson said. "She always strikes me as more careful...given that [William] is a royal and she isn't, you would expect him to be posher, but I'm not sure he is."
Middleton married Prince William in April 2011, officially claiming the title of The Duchess of Cambridge. She gave birth to Prince George July 22, 2013.
