Following the untimely death of Philip Seymour Hoffman on Sunday, the cast and crew of The Hunger Games series have taken to Twitter to express their grief.

Hoffman, who stared as Plutarch Heavensbee in Catching Fire and was slatted to reprise his role in Mockingjay: Part 1 and Part 2, was found dead in his New York City apartment after an alleged drug overdose, according to Variety.

Although Hoffman had finished work on Mockingjay: Part 1, Deadline has reported that the 46-year-old actor still had seven days of filming left for his role in Part 2 of the Lionsgate film.

"Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation," Lionsgate said in a statement. "We're very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip's family."
