The Duchess of Cambridge has stepped in to help her brother-in-law, Prince Harry, get his love life back on track, Independent Woman reported Monday, amid rumors he is engaged to Cressida Bonas.

"Kate knows all too well how damaging false reports can be. So she urged them to show the world they were still going strong before the story snowballed," a source said.

Prince Harry has already taken Middleton's advice and has stepped down from his position as a combat Apache pilot. Now he is rumored to be working in London to be closer to Bonas.

Bonas and Prince Harry have been dating off and on for almost two years. Rumors that the couple were calling it quits began swirling after they spent the holidays apart. It's also said that Prince Harry's father, Prince Charles, wants him to break up with Bonas.

But Bonas seems to have Prince Harry's best interests at heart as she turns down offers of modeling gigs for a lower-paying teaching job.

One insider said, "In many ways her life is on hold as she can't do what she wants because of dating Harry -- it wouldn't look right...Cressida has turned down a fortune for huge modeling jobs for fashion houses. She would make a terrific model but she won't do it. We are all laughing as she goes for the scruffy look rather than designer labels."

While her friends laugh at her, it turns out Prince Harry's long-time girlfriend wants to use more of her brains than her body for a career and make her own money.

"She is not the sort of girl to swan around doing nothing," the source added. "She's got a terrific brain and wants to use it. It's important to her to earn her own money but she has to be careful."
