New reports of trouble in equal marriages have brought more attention to Beyonce and Jay Z's seemingly perfect union.

Whether they are performing Drunk in Love in front of thousands, or hanging out with the Obamas at the White House, Beyoncé and Jay Z's combined successes have made their union and individual images untouchable. So much so, that the two topped Billboards' Power 100 List on Jan. 23rd. But, does their equal power present an equally troubling problem in their marriage? Couples Psychotherapist Lori Gottlieb thinks so.

On Feb. 6th, the New York Times published Gottlieb's article, Does a More Equal Marriage Mean Less Sex?, in which she argues that couples who are peers with shared responsibilities have less intimacy.

"The very qualities that lead to greater emotional satisfaction in peer marriages... may be having an unexpectedly negative impact on these couples' sex lives," she said.

Attention shifted to Beyoncé and Jay Z, who have been dubbed an ultimate power couple by the Twitter sphere and other social media spaces alike, influencing many to want a relationship similar to theirs.

After watching the couple perform at the Grammy's, the chemistry between the two is seemingly still intact. Both Beyonce and Jay Z recently returned from national tours, and saw each other in random cities when their schedules permitted. While Gottlieb presented strong points about certain aspects of egalitarian marriages, Beyonce and Jay Z's strong bond is most likely attributed to their time spent away from each other. Pictures surfaced yesterday of the couple enjoying a Caribbean getaway with their 2-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. While the rumor mill is definitely stirring with stories of infidelity and looming break ups, the pair seem to be doing just fine. What do you think?
