Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 Medal Count: Norway Leads While Team USA Is Close Behind [VIDEO]
The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia are going strong and a medal count reveals Team USA is just a pinch away from being the current lead.
As of now, Norway leads the ranks with 13 total medals: 4 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze. The United States is just one medal behind and has currently ranked in 12 medals including 4 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze. As for the number three spot, the USA's neighbor Canada and Netherlands are on its tail and tied at 10 medals.
For Team Canada, their athletes have earned 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze while Netherlands have 4 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze. The Winter Olympic's host, Russia, is currently holding down the number 5 spot with nine medals: 2 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze.
Rounding out the top 10 is Germany, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia. France is currently sitting at number 11. Tied for 12th place is the Czech Republic, Italy and Japan.
The competition continues with the Men's Biathlon-- 20km Individual Gold Medal Final and Luge-- Team Relay Gold Medal Final Runs.
Team USA's men took over the slopes in the Freestyle Skiing competition. They swept the podium, making it the third sweet for the United States in Winter Olympics history. Previous sweeps include men's halfpipe snowboarding in 2002 as well as men's figure skating in 1956.
