While men's hockey is usually the star of the show when it comes to the Olympics, the women of Team USA are proving they too are a force to be reckoned with in Sochi.

The team has played three games so far, and is currently at a 2-1 record as the women's teams head into their quarterfinal rounds.

Team USA was featured in the first official game to kick off hockey back on Feb. 8, where they managed to defeat Finland 3-1. Two days later, they crushed Switzerland with a 9-0 win. However, they did fall to Canada in the Feb. 12 match, losing 3-2.

Olympic Medal Count

The women's play-off quarterfinals rounds are scheduled to pick up again Feb. 15, with matches scheduled between Finland and Sweden, and Switzerland and Russia. Classification matches against Germany Japan are scheduled the following day, though the teams they will face off against have yet to be determined.

More classification matches as well as the semi-finals are scheduled in the next few days, with the medal awarding games scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20. The Bronze game is scheduled for 4 p.m., while the gold medal game is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

Team USA has a few select powerhouse players, including three-time medalist Julie Chu, who has taken home silver medals with the women's US Hockey team in both the 2002 Salt Lake City and 2010 Vancouver games, as well as a bronze in the 2006 Turin games.
