The U.S.A. Men's Ice Hockey team continues to be successful in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. Although it was a hard fought victory, the team was able to prevail against the likes of Russia via 3-2 margin that ended in a shootout on Saturday.

T.J. Oshie of the NHL's St. Louis Blues netted the puck four times in the O.T. round and was able to score the winning goal in the eighth.

The Anaheim Ducks' Cam Fowler and Joe Pavelski of the San Jose Sharks also scored in the preliminary round. On defense, the Los Angeles Kings' Jonathan Quick had 29 saves while stopping five attempts in the shootout round.

Although the hockey match had little to do with the medal race in Sochi, the game reinforced the the potency of the U.S. and Russia's rivalry.

"For everybody it had a different meeting. For us a hockey team, we won. But for a nation, we won," former U.S.A. men's hockey standout Mike Eruzione told CBS on Feb. 16.

Men's ice hockey action at the 2014 Winter Olympics will continue on Tuesday, as they'll be four playoff qualification matchups taking place.
