Evil is on the rise as Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog seems destined for a sequel.

'Avengers 2' Production Losing Battle With British Weather; What Was Delayed By Flooding?

The Whedon brother's have a special place in the hearts of sci-fi fans, but that place has been yearning for a follow-up to the Whedon's 2008 miniseries. Released only on the Internet, Dr. Horrible rolled superheroes, musicals, and evil villains into a three part comedic production with an all too tragic ending (see video below).

Six years later, Jed Whedon has finally given a progress report for Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog 2.

"We know we have spoken publicly about a sequel in the near distance and our passion to create it, and I promise we have not been insincere," Jed informed Entertainment Weekly. "Horrible is still one of our favorite creations by humans who were also us. We have many songs written and the plot outlined, but needless to say, we've been busy. Joss has had a hectic couple of years and is in the middle of the busiest year of his life, as is Zack and as are we. Also the actors have other things they're acting in, I think. So the future is uncertain, our passion remains. DH2 will exist, in some format or another, at some point in the future. Unfortunately, the when is still unclear."

What is clear, however, is that the Whedon boys are incredibly busy. While Jed has his hands full with Marvel's Agents of Shield, Joss Whedon is busy creating The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Zack Whedon is penning The Red Road for SundanceTV.

In addition, their main stars are also tied up with other projects. Nathan Fillion has Castle, Felicia Day has Geek & Sundry, and Neil Patrick Harris will be moving to Broadway's Hedwig and the Angry Inch following the completion of How I Met Your Mother.

Even so, any progress on Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog 2 is good news for fans.
