To the excitement of the Olympic fans, the top ice pairings in dance will be taking center stage in the ice dance competition, and battling it out for a chance at the gold medal at the Sochi Winter Games.

Defending gold medalists Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue of Canada will surely face some stiff competition from the likes of U.S.A's Charlie White and Meryl Davis.

In the short competition that took place on Sunday night, the Canadian side was able to put on quite the performance, as their coach Marina Zoueva acknowledged it. Interesting enough, the coach has been splitting her obligations and is also the maestra for the rival American side.

Nonetheless, the U.S.A's tandem was slotted first, and recieved high marks in every category that was evaluated. To top it off, the tandem will be coming into Monday's free dance competition with a new world record for the short: 78.89. The respective score is a 2.56-point bulge on Moir and Virtue, who were at 76.33. The margin is a considerable gap in the ice dance competition.

The ice dance figure skating competition is set to begin at 10 a.m. Eastern Time on Monday, Feb. 17. CLICK HERE TO WATCH it on the NBC network.
