The female skiers will compete for the gold during the ski halfpipe finals in Sochi on Thursday.

Marie Martinod of France received the highest score with 88.40 during the qualification round. U.S. skier Brita Sigourney came in second and trailing right behind was fellow American Maddie Bowman.

Japan's Ayana Onozuka was fourth and Angeli Vanlaanen of the U.S. was No. 5.

For some skiers, the Winter Olympics weren't what they expected, including Rowan Cheshire.

The British halfpipe skier fell on her face during training on Sunday and was knocked unconscious for several minutes. The 18-year-old was rushed to the hospital, where she tweeted a horrifying image of her injuries.

"Wasn't the best day yesterday, still don't remember much! Thanks everyone for the lovely messages," she wrote as the caption.

Her injuries also prevented her from taking part in her first Winter Olympics, but Cheshire isn't entirely discouraged.

"So gutted that I won't be able to compete in the Olympics, but there's always positives to come! Thank you everyone for all the support," she also tweeted.

Maria Komissarova of Russia endured more critical injuries as she broke her spine on Saturday after she fell during training. The 23-year-old has undergone two surgeries and is now in stable condition.

Watch the rest of the women compete in the ski halfpipe finals at 12:30 p.m. here.
