Doctor Who may be gaining another companion, this time in the form of actor Samuel Anderson.

Following the events of the 50th Anniversary special, many viewers believed that the Coal Hill School teacher named Tom (Tristan Beint) would snag a recurring role on the show. Instead, however, a teacher named Danny Pink (Anderson) will be joining the iconic sci-fi program.

"For the fourth time in 'Doctor Who' history, Coal Hill School is coming to the aid of the TARDIS," said executive producer Steven Moffat, according to the BBC. "In 1963, teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright accompanied the First Doctor. These days it's the turn of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. And very soon now, Sam Anderson as Danny Pink will be entering the world of the Doctor."

It is currently unclear when Pink will join Clara (Jenna Louise Coleman) and the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi), how long he will stay, or if he will be a new companion. Anderson is itching to show Whovians how he joins the story, but the former Emmerdale actor was skimpy on the details in a recent statement.

"It's an honor to be able to work alongside Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman and I can't wait to show people how my character becomes involved with such a fantastic duo," Anderson told the BBC.
