It looks like Girls star Adam Driver is close to landing the role of the villain in the latest Star Wars flick.

Natalie Portman Talks Episode VII

There is still no official word if the Girls star will be taking the part, but reports are saying that he is in close negotiations to play a Darth Vader-like villain.

Gary Oldman and Benedict Cumberbatch were both rumored to be up for the same role in Star Wars: Episode VII, but they could potentially be vying for a different villain role.

Episode VII Will Be About Twins?

Driver's other credits include Inside Llewyn Davis, Frances Ha and Lincoln. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Adam on Girls.

Other rumored cast members in the movie have include Zac Efron, Judi Dench and Alex Pettyfer.

It appeared that Natalie Portman could potentially reprise her role as Queen Amidala although the actress revealed that that will likely not happen.

"I think J.J. Abrams is such a talent and I can't wait to see what he does," Portman said. "I am only sorry that my character died, which means I can't be in them. I saw him somewhere and I said, 'How did this happen? I can't believe I'm not going to be in the movie.'"

According to reports, there is a possibility that the film will be about twins.

Star Wars: Episode VII is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
