Marvel's Ant-Man is throwing Patrick Wilson into the casting mix.

How Could Evangeline Lilly Fit In With The Scott Lang Origin Story? Edgar Wright May Cast 'Hobbit' Star

The Insidious actor is in talks to take on an undisclosed role in the 2015 Edgar Wright film, according to Deadline.

Now that Ant-Man has finally secured a place in the Marvel Phase Three lineup, Wright is quickly moving forward with the long gestating film. With Paul Rudd (Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues) inline to take on the role of the main hero and Michael Douglas (Behind the Candelabra) on board as Hank Pym, Wilson joins Evangeline Lilly (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) and Michael Pena (Chozen) as rumored additions.

'Ant-Man' Release Date Pushed Forward, Replaces 'Batman vs Superman;' Edgar Wright Talks Stand-Alone Film

Penned by Wright (Hot Fuzz) and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block), it does not look like the first film of Phase Three will tell the origin story of Hank Pym's original Ant-Man. Instead, the story will jump to the second iteration of the pint-sized hero, which involves Scott Lang (Rudd).

Canonically, Lang liberated Pym's suit in an effort to brake into Cross Technological Enterprises to save Dr. Erica Sondheim, the only person who could in turn save his dying daughter. As a result of his actions, Pym allowed the thief to keep the suit if he continued to use his new powers to enforce law and order.

Based on an interview with Vanity Fair, it looks like Wright may be telling a version of this story.

"It's essentially a high-tech spy heist film with somebody with a very particular power," Wright explained.

Ant-Man will hit theaters on July 17, 2015. Click the video below to see what Wright has to say about his latest project.
