Cate Blanchett won the award for Best Actress at the 86th Academy Awards on Sunday for her work in Blue Jasmine.

"Sit down, you're too old to be standing," Blanchett joked at the beginning of her acceptance speech.
The 44-year-old, who wore a Valentino gown, went on to praise the performances of the other actresses nominated -- Amy Adams for American Hustle, Sandra Bullock for Gravity, Judi Dench for Philomena and Meryl Streep for August: Orange County.

"Your performance in American Hustle blew my mind," she told Adams before saying, "Sandra, I could watch that performance to the end of time."
In Blue Jasmine, Blanchett stars as Jasmine, a posh Manhattan socialite who faces a difficult time after her husband is imprisoned for fraud. Other stars in the film include Joy Carlin, Richard Conti, Alec Baldwin and Sally Hawkins.
The star previously won the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for portraying Katharine Hepburn in the 2004 film The Aviator.
