The Latin star revealed that she is a huge fan of the British-American show and would love to be on it although it might be difficult with her ethnicity.
"The English are so spirited, but so repressed. It's so bizarre. But I love Downton Abbey. I would kill for a role," Hayek said.

The actress then revealed the downside of her chances of ever snagging a part on the series.
"What's a Mexican going to do in Downton Abbey? I would have to play deaf and dumb."
If Hayek were to ever play a part on the series, it might have to be fairly soon since there is a possibility that the show will go off the air after the sixth season.
Julian Fellowes, the series creator, revealed that while nothing is official, there is a chance that there will be no more Abbey after the sixth season so he can work on other projects.
"The sixth season, it may be our last," Fellowes said. "I'm about to start on a new US drama called 'The Gilded Age' for NBC Universal. And the last thing I want to do is juggle two shows."
Maggie Smith is set to return as Violet Crawley, which Fellowes seems optimistic about.
"I refuse to do the show without her," Fellowes said about Smith. "It's an honor to not only watch her, but to also write for her. She's inspiring."
