After it was announced that Adam Driver from HBO's Girls was in close negotiations to play the villain in Star Wars Episode VII, there is now a possibility on who exactly his character might be.

On Monday, What a Culture reported that there is a good chance that Driver could play Jacen Solo, the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia. While this appears to only be a theory, the site gave some information on why this possibility could create hope.
One reason for Driver playing Jacen Solo is because of the content created in the Expanded Universe. According to the site, Disney acknowledged the fact that there is specific content from this version that was worth expanding into the trilogy. It may not be every specific moment from the Expanded Universe, but there ought to be some speculation that parts of it will be put into the film.
As for moments in the Expanded Universe that would work for the film, the site mentioned that if Han and Leia have kids, then they will go by the names that were used in the Expanded Universe.

The site also pointed out that with the original characters growing older in age, it would make sense for the characters' offspring to take over the new film.
It was also pointed out that Driver could play a Vader-like villain, which creates speculation that he could indeed be the grandson of the main villain, himself.
Star Wars: Episode VII is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
