Broadchurch is rebranding itself in America and David Tennant has snapped up the chance to put a new spin on his portrayal of DI Alex Hardy.

'Gracepoint' Fox Casting: Kevin Rankin of 'Breaking Bad,' Virginia Kull of 'The Following' & More Join 'Broachurch's David Tennant

Just as the ITV award-winning drama has been re-titled Gracepoint for its FOX remake, the former Doctor Who star will be playing Hardy's renamed American version, Detective Emmett Carver. Considering the obvious changes that have been made, fans of the original series are wondering how different Carver will be from his British counterpart.

"I'm not going to encourage people to compare to original performance," Tennant told Entertainment Weekly. "But since I'm playing scenes in a different location with different people it's going to be different; you just have to be open to where that goes. There is no precedent for this. It's so familiar, yet completely new. It's a very peculiar experience."

'Broadchurch' vs 'Gracepoint': Fox Version Changes Ending, Keeps David Tennant

Meanwhile, Fox has announced that the ending for Gracepoint will definitely not be the same as the season 1 ending of Broadchurch. Alas, tenant is still in the dark as to what will be changed.

"In terms of the ending, I'm just as in the dark as everybody else. I'm following the rumors in the press. Which is the same as the experience as filming Broadchurch. I'm told there will be a change, whether that's a fundamental change or a tweak I have no idea," Certainly the pilot episode sticks very closely to the original as the story goes on it eases out a bit, there's extra twists and turns, some characters are more developed. I think the story will go in directions that fans wouldn't necessarily recognize."

Gracepoint is set to air this Fall.
