Karen Gillan Dishes On Her 'Guardians' Role As The Vicious Nebula
The James Gunn film is the first pieces of Marvel's elaborate web of interconnecting films to have a main character that is unaffiliated with the Avengers. Despite this, Ken Feige, Marvel Studios president of production, claims that there are several Guardians characters that will make their way into other films.
"It couldn't be more distant in geography to the other films. 99% of this movie takes place on the other side of the galaxy," Feige explained in an AMC Q&A session. "Nevermind the themes and character interaction... there are a handful of characters you'll see in this movie who will carry through to other films as threats to Earth."
'Guardians Of The Galaxy': A Quick Guide To The Guardians
Introduced in The Avengers post-credit scenes, Thanos will continue to play the franchises' villain during Guardians. Even if the Mad Titan doesn't make a physical appearance in the upcoming release, his presence will be felt and he will most certainly feature in other Phase Two and Phase Three projects.
With that in mind, it remains to be seen what other Guardians villains will emerge as future "threats to Earth." Ronan (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) instantly pop to mind since they are the project's main baddies, but there is also the possibility that The Collector (Benicio Del Toro) could cause problems with his mission to obtain all the Infinity Gems.
