The Doctor knows that tampering with space and time can have dire consequences. Doctor Who is now realizing that these consequences can include a rather confused audience.

Will The Eighth Doctor Return? Paul McGann Dishes On Possibilities

Showrunner Steven Moffat recently fielded a popular fan question about Trenzalore and the Doctor's ultimate fate, although the writer made sure to steer clear of any definitive answers on the matter.

Trenzalore, also known as the Doctor's final resting place, has now been featured twice in the BBC sci-fi series. While the world looked drastically different during each visit, one fact remained the same - the Doctor left alive.

His 200 percent survival rate begs the question of how, and when, Trenzalore will really become his grave.

"Changing time is tricky. It's a bit like a detective story: so as long there isn't an actual body, you've got a certain amount of wiggle room - for instance, if the body has, rather conveniently, been burned on a boat in Utah," Moffat explained, as the Doctor, according to Doctor Who Magazine (via Doctor Who TV). "But what do I know about Trenzalore? There's a big monument that looks very like my TARDIS. There's a temporal fissure leading to my timeline. Maybe it's my grave. Maybe, one day, it's my burial ground. Maybe it is something else entirely, and we got it all wrong. Don't know. Don't plan to find out for as long as possible. The main thing is, Clara still jumped into my time stream, and ended up helping me through all of my life. All that is established, unchanged - but there's wiggle room!"

It looks like time is really "big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff," with a little built in wiggle room.

Do you think Trenzalore will actually hold the Doctor's future tomb, or is it really just a giant misdirection? Tell us what you think in the poll below!
