Megan Crafton, an Indianapolis high school cheerleader coach, has admitted to performing a sexual act on a 17-year-old basketball player.

Crafton, 22, was arrested on charges of seducing the boy today and pled not guilty, according to the Indianapolis Star.

According to a report on CBS affiliate WISH, Crafton previously admitted to perform oral sex to the boy in January at the parking lot of a grocery store.

Crafton turned herself with the help of her lawyer, G. Allen Lidy, says she was not coaching the 17-year-old, adding that she was his teacher or his teacher's assistant.

It is illegal for an adult to engage in sexual activity with anyone younger than the age of 18 if their job holds a position of authority over them.

"The relationship itself between Crafton and the 17-year-old boy is not illegal, but the fact she held a part time job here at the school made that relationship a crime," said Shelbyville Police Lt. Michael Turner.

"She was employed as a quote un quote teacher as an assistant cheerleading coach and that made her an authoritative role over this child which by state statute makes it illegal."

He also told Fox Sports: "We wouldn't be having this conversation if it was her and some other gentleman who doesn't go to the school, or isn't part of the school system, but unfortunately in this case, it was and it made it illegal. When she signed on as an assistant cheerleading coach, she took a responsibility that she wouldn't have relations at that school."

Crafton will face a jury trial on September 24 for child seduction and has been released on bond on the day she was arrested. The coach admitted to performing sexual acts on the boy, who is part of the school' basketball team she worked for.
